I've been working on a silver, bulky padlock for a while now, and have recently read about a technique called 'rapping'. All I know about rapping is that it is used on single-latch padlocks and requires a tension force as well as applying force along the gradient of the latch. But if anyone has any in-depth information about this technique, I would be glad to know. Here are a few questions of mine:
1. How can you tell which side of the latch comes out? (I don't have the key

)
2. Do you apply force along: the cylinder, the side closest to the shackle opening, or the side furthest from the shackle opening?
3. What would be a good object used to apply force?
4. If you can post a proffesional guide, that would also be
very helpful.
I'm working on posting the pic of my lock soon.
