COMBO SET #3

Postby deek » 10 Mar 2004 3:55

-Hey, hows it going guys?
I just wanted your opinions on this combo set from www.lockpicks.com

Do you think that the products are good quality?
And is it a good set for the price?
Any comments or opinions would be appreciated.

-Also on another note.
I've got a lockwood padlock 234/45

http://www.lockweb.com.au/products/prod ... goryID=280

I picked it and got all the pins in place, but the cylinder only turned half way and then stopped. The lock didn't open, Is this because I was turning turning the wrong way?
Does anyone have anyone experiance or knowledge on this particular lock?

I also have a Yale 5 pin padlock. I can never seem to pick this lock consistantly. It might take me one minute, or half an hour. Or recently not at all. I heard they have mushroom pins in them, is this true? If so what should i do to make picking easier?

Thanks...

I would skip buying one of those combo sets unless you don't care about the price. The 32 piece set, in my opinion, is over kill; you just end up with alot of doubles. Also if you are going to buy a full set of picks why bother with the jacknife pick?

I don't know how much experience you have but I'm going to assume you are fairly new. For that reason I would hold off on the pick gun until you have some more practice. I have one but I only bought it because I got it for $25. I use it on occasion but, just being a hobby picker I usually only single pin pick.

I have heard mixed reviews on the auto jigglers ranging from worthless to wonderful so search around on the site and read some of the reviews.

If it were me I would buy http://www.lockpicks.com/product.asp?0=204&1=217&3=273 and maybe a set of warded picks to start out with. That will give you all the picks you will need for quite some time, and if you happen to come across a warded lock you'll be able to open it.

i was gonna buy that set but only because i was gonna buy most of what was in that set seperatly anyways... (everything but the 32peice set).

for beginners picks, get a 14 peice mpxs set would be my recommendation if money is an issue. otherwise, go for it and have fun :)
