needing help

i there, although lockpicking is not a hobby of mine i would be grateful of some help.

i have a garage door with a central positioned birtley lock and three additional padlocks. i have lost the bunch of keys at work with them all on. although i have spares for the padlocks, i only had the one key for the main lock. i dont really want to get a locksmith out just incase my keys are handed in at work tonight. is there a relatively easy way for me to open it or gonna have to fork out for a professional to come out.

btw most of my tools are in there so dont have much to play with

Well... is it possible that you could get it? Sure, it's possible.

But lacking the knowledge and practice of lock picking, and lacking proper tools with which to pick, you may be in for a long and frustrating experience, with the distinct possibility of damaging the lock.

I'd vote for "call a professional".

However, one thing you do have going for you is that if this is a basic latch lock on an overhead door, it may well be a simple wafer lock. In this case, they are about the easiest locks out there to pick. If you're intent on trying, get a tension wrench and something to pick with. Bobby pins (hair pins) will often do in a pinch. Read the MIT guide to lock picking (you can find it linked by clicking on my sig image).

I'd still vote for "call a professional".

Cheers!
