Flaming is telling someone off in a harsh way, name calling, swearing, being sarcastic, upsetting the member its aimed at is basically all involved.

Trolling is where a member repeatedly posts on threads somthing that has nothing to do with the subject in hand, its usually done to up the post count of the member for whatever reason they think, a good example would be someone who works through the entire post list and just enters 'i agree with the above' members with 99 posts of just smilies or the same word is trolling.

Post count doesnt mean you get into the advanced forums nor does it mean your ilegal questions will get answered.
There has recently been someone trolling the board but it gets them nowhere and just alienates the board towards them.

There are even more aspects to trolling, see e.g.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_troll

Strange people, they are

I think a better description of trolling would be to make posts which intentionally illicit a negative response from the membership.

Eg: Trolling Noob says:
"Aren't you all a bunch of criminals anyway?"

Or something to that extent. That might be a bad example, 'cause I'd be far more inclined to take that opportunity to set the record straight than to lash out at the guy. But you get the point.

Another way to "Troll" is to respond in a manner that would illicit a flame war or some type of "self destructive" debate. Such as DB said.

More examples include mentioning the opposite of what the Board's subject matter would normally be.

Forums such as this one usually try to explain things out before taking any type of drastic action, Other boards such as *AHEM* Political and religious ones Pretty much Censor the offending material from view before any "Death tolls" are made. One such board edits the post with a gob of signs of american political figures holding photoshopped signs quoting "DON'T FEED THE TROLLS!!!!" Some of em are actually quite funny.

No it's not! You're wrong! You don't know what you're talking about. Is this your first time on the internet?

j/k. :)

And that, my friends, would be trolling. :P

"Is it not true that the DaVinci code is real, and that all you guys at <insert catholic website> are all wrong?"

If you want to get people wound uop for fun, and you post something that you know will cause strong dissagreement then you are trolling.
