How Would you compromise a PeliLOCK?

I think this lock is under combination locks? I can pick a typical pin lock but have totally no clue as to how to compromise a combination lock....

pull the shackle and then turn the dials randomly. that is the technique i have found to be the most effective for opening these kind of locks.

Regarding the "pull the shackle and turn randomly", there is a more effective and reliable way. Do pull the shackle, but rather than turning the dials randomly, turn each dial feeling for the spot where the friction on the dial loosens up the most. This is the number where the gate is. Once you find the "loose spot" on one number, move to the next. Before too long, you've got that puppy open.

I've taught a number of people to do this in person, and generally with no more than 30 seconds of instruction they'll pop open a lock like that in under a minute the first try. Once they've got the feel of it, we're talking 15-20 seconds every time.

I agree, and I would also like to add that sesame/presto style locks are not acceptable as the only protection against the unauthorized use of guns.

some part of the lock, probably the shackle back is a rod with four bumps sticking up from it. when you pull on the shackle, this should tighten these bumps against all wheels that are not gated at the place where gates let the bumps through, any wheel that is looser than all the others, indicates either that other wheels are taking all the pressure, or that the gate is aligned with the bump. so leave that wheel alone, the wheels that tighten when the shackle is pulled, should be turned until they also indicate a gate by being unaffected by the pulling tension on the shackle. by pulling on the shackle, then testing all the wheels for tightness, work the tightest one first, until you find the spot where it is loose, then another wheel will become the one that is most affected by shackle pulling. you can also pulse pull on the shackle and watch the wheels move, any that move significantly more than the others should be adjusted to where they are unaffected.

I put my 30/30 in my uncles gun case for when we go hunting, his has a combo and then a tricky looking lever lock that both have to be opened.. hope its secure couldnt care less how to get in either that gun was 400$.... i would say the usual take it to a lcokie or have him come there if its huge.. which it probobly is and let him set it up.

nono. what i meant was, what type of lock would you recommend me to purchase to lock up my guncase. I was initially wanting to use the PeliLOCK but now that i know its easily compromised, i am looking for other type of locks to replace my PeliLOCK for my guncase...

Yes if you scan the other replies we realised that and appolagised.

As MH suggested a picture really would be needed.
Any thing with a combo lock as a padlock isnt the thing to use imho.

My new case haven't arrive yet and the lock holes should be the standard for all pelican cases
