Erebus 7 Lever Mortice Deadlock

Information about locks themselves. Questions, tips and lock diagram information should be posted here.

Erebus 7 Lever Mortice Deadlock

Postby sasco » 6 Jun 2006 5:02

Dear All

I am trying to locate an equivalent mortice deadlocks to replace two old Erebus 7 lever locks which have been damaged beyond repair due to the keys missing and the assistance of a gas torch!

On the reverse of the faceplate the number 1641 is stamped

There is no need for expensive 7 lever, 5 lever will be acceptable as it will only be used for general storage, therefore do not even need to be insurance rated. Just need something to replace like for like (size wise) as the framework is 8mm steel and difficult to alter

Hope someone is able to assist in recommending an alternative.

The measurements of the old lock are:-
A = 68mm case depth
B = 44mm backset
C = 108mm case height
D = 157mm forend length
E = 25mm forend width

Thanks for your help

Contact Banham or Bramah, they both manufacture a lock to the same size as an E2553

Erebus 7 lever

Postby Joseph » 27 Sep 2006 6:07

The Bramah MD17 or 27 with an Erebus Forend has been created for replacing the Erebus / Banham 7 Lever on explosive stores and is widely used by Hornsby & Goodwin.

Not a precise fit, but keyhole very close, forend identical and some locking plate adjustment required.

For more info look at www.bramah.co.uk :D
