monoblok

by monoblock, do you mean a brushed brass lockbody? open the lock by pick bump or key and look down inside the shackle hole for a screw. that might do it, or take a small peening tool and strike along the center of the edge of the lock to see if you can detect brass plugs hidden in the brushed brass surface.

Sounds like a shutterbolt padlock. Does your padlock have a straight bolt that slides into the lock body to lock?

I had a Yale padlock that was similar to this, and the oly way to get it out was to get the retaining pinm out.

On the chance that it has a removable cylinder, follow raimundo's advice. :)

Sorry for no picture, you can see what I mean if you Google/Image Search Abus Monoblock (although this one is not an Abus).

It is U shaped with a round bolt that slides freely in and out when the key is turned. I've studied the edges for chamber plugs and can't find any (although it is fairly new and the paint is thick).

Thanks for your help.

If it's painted, you will not see them anyway.

But if it's not a rekeyable lock (I doubt it is), the only way to remove the plug will be to look for the hidden pin/plug or the cover on top of them, and remove them, using heat or drilling, milling, etc.

It's most probably similar to this

that one had a larger cover on top of the springs, not single plugs.

peening

take a stainless butterknife and smak a number of little marks on the area where you think a plug might be hidden, after each wack, look for an indication that something sunk a tiny bit and showed a round circle along the edge of the lock it could be the pin drillings, as well as the pin that rides a groove in the plug, which would probably be just beyond the depth of the keyblade, another larger one would be the locking dogdrillings. a plug holder could even be on the wide side of the lock just beyond the length of the keyblade. if you find it, you could drill a small hole in it and tap that, then screw a steel screw in it and pull it like a nail, as to getting it all back together again, well, thats complicated, you will have to find a brass rod to drive into the hole cut off, file to level and hide with a wirebrushing on a motor.
