Almost Got an Apprentice ship!!

Postby LockNewbie21 » 10 Jun 2006 16:03

Ok so after about 4 months of searching for a lockie who will apprentice me, my Wifey's Cousin who is 35 somthing? Has a very dear freind who's father owns a fairly big sized Locksmithing buisness and is also looking to retire, he said that he can get a me an apprentice ship. SO then i almost fainted.. trust me i searched long and hard for a lockie to even jsut let me cut keys and such jsut to get any on job/ in shop expierence. Lol he also threw in, do you know to to open safes? I said yeaaaa i'm a pro hand me the combo and i will have it open in no time. He was only joking but apparently there is a vault tech thats works for this company as well. I was never really interested in vault work maybe just learn to change safe combo's for people. Does this vault work have and relevance to lockies.. i always thought those were private contracted companies? Any way i thought i would share this great news and i am patiently waiting for his phone call.

Have a good one fella's!

NICE! i have just recently convinced my own mother to allow me to search for an apprenticeship over the summer break (im in US, so i have 3 months). i was shocked when she said yeah sure. but then i realized i dont know what apprenticeship means really...??? but anyways, i have to wait til i finish some other business before i can start searching, due to time constraints. but i cant wait myself either!

good luck!

Best of luck buddy, apprenticeship is basically like how they did things in the Middle ages.. for instance sword makers and blacksmiths and carpenters had apprentices, so the apprentices didn't get paid but they worked to receive what they know and eventually took ove the buisness haveing apprentices of there own, know i think most lockies do pay apprentices, although i cant be sure, I would'nt care about the money as i have my construction job, just the actual expiernce is worth slaving over a key machine and sweepign floors :D I am guessing its like any other job that you start ot low (guinie pig) doing grunt work, then as you progress and learn you get to do many other jobs of higher importance.. not forgetting about the floors
