Nice vid Zeke.

I do have a question. In your Medeco, how many of your key pins have false gates? This has been something that I've experimented with a few times myself, and found that the difficulty of the lock seems to be directly related to the number of false gates on the key pins. 1 or 2 is manageable, but anything more than that and I don't stand a chance.

It was either 3 or 4 of them. I'll pull it back apart and see in a bit.

edit **** 3 of the pins have false gates. with one of those 3 being a serrated arx type pin. The other 2 pins have no false gates and one of those is a serrated arx type pin.

2 with false gates
1 with false gate and arx type serration
1 with no false gate and with arx type serration
1 std pin with no false gate or arx type serration

That is the final rundown of the pins.

First I want to state that opening a Medico is quite an accomplishment!
'm curious, what is the pinning of the cylinder picked?
Also have you picked a Medico without any advanced knowledge of the keying, looking at the key of any lock does give an advantage in picking? ( even with this advantage I am impressed with picking the Medico cylinder in less than 1 min)

maxxed,

The lock is fairly high low pinned. I have not attempted to open a medeco "blind" without seeing the key. I may actually have my wife repin this lock so I can do a blind test. I know it will not be a double blind test so there will be some room for doubt of my word, but that will just be part of it I guess. If I have the chance over the next week or so I'll give this a shot if there is enough interest.

I have a box containing 90 + Medico cyliders 60 - 70 have no keys now that would be a test. StillI did look at the key in the video noticed it did look rather flat and I was curious about the angles.
I, like you, had to teach my wife certain things about the trade so that I could give myself a real test.

Hehehe, the key is actually far from flat. I can take photos if you like and PM them to you.

Now that's love! I wish I had a girl to repin my locks and make the occasional cutaway!
