Some locks are very easy to pick in reverse, but nearly impossible to pick in the unlocked direction. Some locks are very easy to pick in the unlocked direction and nearly impossible to pick in reverse.
A tool called a plug spinner was created to combat this. When you come across a lock that picks eaily in the locked direction, you pick it, then insert the plug spinner and trigger it. It then spins the plug quickly enough past the pin chambers that the pins can't reset and viola! Your lock is now unlocked.
