bumped my first lock

yea i did it. i never got my friend to cut those keys for me. i stoped in his shop and he had alot of people in the store so i said hi and left. i cut an old key down with my dremel cut of disk. i sanded of the roughness put it in the lock pulled out a little and poped it with a car snow brush. second try it worked. that was to easy. thanks to all of your posts

Nice work! It’s very fun and impressive when you first get yourself. But after a while it does get boring, while picking is always entertaining and more gratifying.

it feels good right now but im sure your right. the keys not good looking i want to keep messing with it but i dont want to mess it up


those locks where not bad at all soon as i opened the box i picked 7 of them right away. now im taking them apart. thanks

It's the keyway (Yale Y1) is more difficult than say, a common Kwikset or Schlage, otherwise they are not too bad. Go to your locksmith friend and see if you can get some mushrooms to throw in there. One in each stack except the last one (stack 5 in this case) is common in some locks. Pin by pin picking in one of these keyways that has not been worn down (some of the more heavily used locks have a widened keyway from normal wear) can be tricky.
