Howdy.
Long time Urban Explorer here and avid Dumpster Diver. Started picking locks on the drawers in my 7th grade computer class for kicks. Now, finding myself quite bored and nearly finished with college, I'm thinking of getting into lockpicking as an actual hobby instead of a way to impress fellow 13 year old geeks.
Hope to learn quite a bit from these forums. Do expect quite a bit of lurking, however, until I get into the swing of things.
Cheers!

i live in switzerland, picked my first lock at the age of fourteen, it was the one on my desk, and i am looking forward to my 32nd year in life.. next lock will be the one on my bike, as i had lost the key to it recently..
uhm, what got me here? well, i am quite interessted in security, especially on computers, and somehow it seems that geeks with the same interests like lockpicking. and somehow i see this as a challenge to myself..
other hobbies include my one and only love chiara, a beautiful dobermann-rottweiler, sports and "being in movement" in general, actively rather than watching, climbing especially as well as martial arts as kickboxing and iaido (the art of drawing the sword, very traditional, very japanese..). you also could have figured out that i like biking a lot.
i've made an apprentice as a mechanic, but worked in accounting the last couple of years. i am without a job for the moment, so just PM me if you have an opportunity for me..
alright, that was pretty much the most personal post i have read here so far, it might make a difference to you, as i hope..

Hi everybody
My name is john and i live in Birmingham UK. I got to your site in a
strange way. I was web searching for site's on air rifle tuning, and came
across a site that sell's lock picks (airpistol.co.uk).
From a very early age i've always wanted to know how thing's worked. I
had alot of broken toy's after i got my hands on them. i also broke alot
of locks to see how they worked after i could'nt pick them with a hair grip.
By the time i got to leaving school, i knew what type of job i wanted to do.
I studied and worked my way up to multi/skilled maintenance engneer.
I have a hobby of working with computer music studio's, which i've spent
time teaching to other people on a music site forum.
I'm looking forward to many, many, many years of learning the art of lock
picking, and hope in the future i can bring some of my skills to the people
of this forum.

Welcome to the site everyone,
If buying lockpicks try to stay away from the gun shops and joke shops as they are vastly over priced, this site's sponser also offers a 10% discount when given a code which is found on this site,
Have fun everyone, read the stickies and FAQ's first and pay particular attention to Digital Blue's beginner lock picking exercise.

Thank u Shrub for the info.
I've been reading db's A Beginner's Tour Of LP101 TUTORIALS, and will
be ordering a set of Southord lock picks from Devonlocks on monday.
i'll also have a go at raimundo's hand-made Bogota picks.
For now it's back to the reading.

Hi everyone, I'm new.
I work in a psychology lab, and as part of my job I read crime scene reports. One of the cases I came across a few months ago was of a lockpicker who went on a spree one night, breaking into several sheds in a subdivision, before eventually being caught. This caught my interest as most of the cases I read are simple 'smash and grab' type operations.
Ever since, I have had a nagging interest in learning about (and the skill of) lockpicking. Great site!
