euro profile cost?

Postby jb68 » 2 Jul 2006 11:04

I have looked through the site rules and couldn't see any rules applying to this, so thought i'd ask.
I have a customer who wants all the mechanisims and profiles changed on upvc doors (mech's are all nfg, worn out.)
They have found somewhere to get the mech's from but they want the profiles all keyed alike and to have thumb turns internally.
There are 4 all together but in 3 differing sizes.
Just wondered how much I should be paying for them.
It's just that the the prices I've been quoted vary widely.
Thanks.

Btw if any one local is interested in supplying I'd be happier to deal with you, keep it all in the family. :)

Shouldnt be any more than £10 per cylinder.

For standard cylinders.

SKS sell them keyed alike in a few sizes other than that get them and re-key them yourself if you have the equipment, or they will rekey them to order.

I'm not sure wot sizes are standard for profiles, the ones on there now stick out from the handle too much on the outside.

The sizes I'm after are 100mm/55-45 (45 on the inside)
85mm/50-35 (35 on the inside)
85mm/50-35 (50 on the inside)

I'm aware that the profile mustn't stick out too far past the handle but wasn't sure what the length variations of the cylinders are.

The length usually includes the cam width which in the zone range is 10mm so your 100 becomes 110, is that still ok?

SKS dont list any of those sizes in the catalogue so youll have to ring them up and ask, alternitively the others will also sell them, pretty much any supplier that does them should be able to tell you if they have them and how much they will be.

The closest they list are in un-keyed alike and they are,

40/10/50
35/10/45
40/10/40

With the first number being the thumb turn.

But if those sizes arent flush with the handles you stuck looking at another supplier im afraid Aldrige takes me 30 mins to find what im after when ever i look in their cat and my duffells isnt handy right now.

I've taken the measurements from the holding screw, so I spose really all I gota do is take 5mm off each side. So the 40/10/50 would be right I think. I'll have to have another measure to check if the others will work.
Looking at it the 35/10/45 might work too I think it's the last 1 that may be a problem.
Thanks for your help on this one mate I've got a better clue now than I did. Funny thing is that I thought that sorting the mech's out was gonna be the harder part of the job. Cheers again
