New material for picks !

I was raking the leaves from my house just before, and I realised, hey I can use these for picks !! I didn't try it yet, but they look like they would go good. Some of these have round ones, but some are flat.

On a related note, I've been finding that cabinet scrapers (available from most wood-working shops) are a fantastic base for pick material. They're typically made from very hard spring-steel (up to Rc53), and sold in 6"x2" plates that range anywhere from 0.2mm to 1mm in thickness. The 0.25mm sheets are nice, as they're half the thickness of a standard SouthOrd pick (0.5mm), offer a lot of lateral flexibility, and still have lots of strength for pin-lifting. Having to cut the sheets into strips is a little extra initial work but, once you have, the material is quite nice to work with...

The rake material can work but not very well because of the weakness of them. Although the metal on the top of hanging folders in filing cabnets is great!

when i read about the rake blades i ran down to the basement and when't nut all these blades i have for picks i was thinking. then i found out there not that strong so no picks and i had to get a new rake.i think i still have a tension wrench

i need a new tension wrench,and in australia we dont have metal wiper blade inserts,just plastic ones.

so this rake material sounds like a good contender,good thinking bpc.
