New tubular lockpick

When it comes down to it there is nothing better than manual tools for your Lock pick Set, whether they be retail, homebrew, macgyver style. DIY'ers look here.

New tubular lockpick

I just noticed a new tubular pick design, it works on 7 & 8 pin, and comes with extras.

Scroll down to the bottom of the page.

Tubular pick

Postby Buzzzy » 8 Jul 2006 21:27

I wasn't thinking about price so much, I build my own tubular picks.
It was more of a design observation, one tool spare parts,in a compact ergo package.

It seeems that I read a post about the SO's being a bit rough out of the box, needing filing and sanding to make them work. Did you find that to be the case with yours?

Mine benifitted with the feeler picks being sanded yes,

It is a good idea and one based on the mod posted on here a while ago i assume, where you move a pin which is the tension pin depending on what lock it is to open,

There's also the question of how their "exclusive design of the friction collar" works.

I bet that question will be addressed shortly. I think there will be orders for these.

The O ring sizes suggest to me that the princible will be the same as the present SO one, im not too sure about the one thats in view or what it does in that position i also wonder what the funny bent bit of metal is for unless its a O ring removal tool.

SO

Postby Buzzzy » 8 Jul 2006 22:37

I have never used a SO, and my system is not the same, I would like to compare them but i'm happy with my design.

Well the SO system uses a collar that has a O ring groove in the end, this collar is fastend to the stem with a grub screw,

You insert the O ring and then another collar screws on to the other one and the tighter you do it up the more comressed the O ring becomes, this in turn presses on the feeler picks harder and harder,

My system does this, and has a smaller ring, trapping the feelers with outward pressure ,this is also adjustable.

Yes that is a much better idea as the feelers would also be held a lot more uniformly instead of the SO ones which due to the colar being grub screwed from one side only are held slightly skew wift,
