Best materials for a tenchen wrench?

hey people, could you tell me the Best or just any matireial that i could make a techen wrench out of. i don't want to buy anything so any material that would be suitible for a beginner would do. i'm just not sure what would do that job.

There are metal inserts in windshield wipers that are PERFECT for tension wrenches and picks. You can find old, discarded windishield wipers if you are willing to search in the trash cans behind service stations.

Street Sweeper Bristles if you have sweepers in your area.

I have used an 1/8 inch wide piece of stainless steel cut from an old butter knife and it works very well.

Note: the better quality B/Knife will bend to a 90 degree angle without having to anneal and reharden it.

Also, try the search function on this site or any of your favorite search services, you should be able to find some kind of common or unique material that others have used for this purpose.

wow, thanks that is just that answer i was looking for.

and anyone else that has an idea plese tell me, i want to try a few to see what works best.

they work wonders for all things.

nails bend them and file.
rake blades. from a lawn care rake.
hanging folders in filing cabinets have a strip of metal in them.
wiper blades and dipsticks are the best.
anything you can bend and fit in the lock that can take the tension really.

I have a couple made from paper clips. They work kinda like a feather touch tension wrench.

headband from cheap walkman headfones, remember to straighen the metal, you needto unbend it without making new bending marks, take it from both ends, then run it over a table edge, if you get it pretty nearly straight, you're good to go, it will tend to straighen out better as you use it. if you get it exactly right,remember that some heat and quench will set it, its not neccessary or even good to make them metal cherry red,(which happens quickly with stainless over a stove) it should be good in just twenty seconds over flame. This will not straightnen it, but after straightening, it will set the metal to the new alignment.
