Hehe, you know what? I was looking at the picture and then at the signature under the post ("It's all about cutaways...") and that gave me a good laugh.

Yes, it's on south main, south of the hardees and the mobil station. I forgot why it was closed down (it might have been a health department thing), and I vaguely recall that it was in the papers.

Yup, I've driven past it a few times. It was indeed a dive.

Are you going to have a special on practice locks?

No, but I think I can buy the place for cheap and have lockpickers run wild in it during the Ultimate Locksports Competition

I went there today on a short trip (this time I was with a friend) and I checked out the locksets. When you push the center of the knob, the pin comes out (not all the way, however), and it can easily be pushed back in.

Do you remember level 8 from one of the episodes of Duke Nukem 3d called
"hotel he11?" For some strange reason it keeps making me think of that.

fondulac

Postby raimundo » 19 Jul 2006 9:39

fondue lack is a small town, if that were near the twin cities, (MPLS and STPaul) all the copper would have been stripped about two weeks after it was boarded up. (when mpls built a new 3rd precinct for the cops,) the copper was stripped out of the old one in jig time, probably by cops who had keys to the place.
There is supposedly a standard template for building this sort of motel, and it includes a corridor between the rooms that carries wires and pipes, there have been expose' s on tv of these corridors where maintainence people drilled small holes to see into the rooms, It would be interesting to see if this one has any thing like that.
Noah, you should look up why the place was closed, legionaires disease, Norwalk virus, or asbestos, you need to know. great pictures, I have only looked at the first batch as I write this. 8) Watch out that some snoop authority dosent try to use your photos to cause trouble.

http://www.operationlookout.org/lookoutmag/Abduction_try_foiled.htm

"The police made me aware that the chain had been cut (to gain entry to the building)," Rollin said. "We had the place re-secured yesterday (Tuesday). The doors are padlocked."

They could've walked in the back door

"Attorneys for Dairyland had asked the court to foreclose on the property in late April 2003, shortly after unpaid utility bills resulted in the cutoff of gas, electricity, water and phone services. City building inspectors had deemed the premises unlivable, and the city was forced to evict about 30 tenants of the building who were regular residents of the building rather than motel guests."

"Meanwhile, the property has been secured and placed back on the police patrol watch list."
Fond du Lac's finest.... :P

I think this would be an awesome place to conduct some real-life destructive entry tests.

All of the stuff from my other site was transferred here.
