When it comes down to it there is nothing better than manual tools for your Lock pick Set, whether they be retail, homebrew, macgyver style. DIY'ers look here.

My mistake - I over ordered (and wrongly) some picks for the electric snap gun. I only wanted a couple of a certain type and now I am left with all these that I dont really have a use for as yet. I do not have an electric gun (didnt like as it tended to overlift pins).
So what can I do with them?
Has anyone made working handles to suit them to turn them into useful manual picks? I thought about trying to make a 'one handle fits all' type of thing with the required blade slotting in and being held in place by a screw (like the manual gun holds them). A sort of pocket set! Any suggestions on something handle wise I could utilise?

well, i dont have a pickgun, so i dont know how big those are, but i would be willing to assume something along the lines of popsicle sticks could work. or really, anything that you can attach to the two prongs and then turn into a handle. here:
where the greyish pic part is the picks, and the black is the fabricated part. perhaps even hacksaw blades, wiper inserts, sweeper bristles, etc made into a handle that can sustain such a shape. beware though- that will have a short tang. (there are arguements as to half tang, tang and it relating to strength) but i think that can work, and if not, then just post pics and description of such in teh buy/sell/trade forum and see what happens.

Thanks guys - never seen that sort of knife anywhere (but never looked for one before now). Does the knurled bit at the blade end unscrew, and then tighten onto blade in some way?
What I might do is get that sort of knife and adapt one of each of the blade types to suit it, then sell the others as a set (to pay for the knife)

Yeah, the knurled part makes the end of the hobby knife contract, thus gripping whatever is inserted.
You turn clockwise untill the part comes loose, and then turn anti-clockwise to tighten the end up.
Ebay sells these knives for dirt cheap, and for what you are using them for, they are fine.
Here's a possibility:
Ebay link to hobby knife, click me please!
The bummer is that you only get one slender hobby knife in each pack, but they are dirt cheap.
Ironicaly, this set is called the 'locker' lol.

Thanks Ben, I have placed a bid and if unsuccesful I will try again. Comes in a case I see - probably can be used to hold the blades also.
I will see how it all works when I get one - and post pics. Not rocket science I know but maybe useful to someone.
I got them from Citysafe (so you can work out price yourselves) so if someone wants one of each of the blades for a fiver total then pls PM me.

you could (if it would fit) bend the bottom part of it (as long as its comfortable) 80 degrees so you can use the bottom as a double sided tension wrench.
dont know if it would work, but hey its worth a try
It's ok guys, i have a really bad attention sp-wow look, a beach!

Thats a fantastic idea and great thining but the gap is only around 3,5mm so unless for use on very small padlocks its a bit small,
Love the thinking behind it though

I might try that on one of my less popular ones - as once bent I dont think it can fit into the knife handle. Perhaps I can discover a pocket size slim case to hold handle and all blades. I will let you know.
