Certain locks like Schlage, Weiser etc have 5 and 6 pin versions of the same lock. They use identical keyways.
If you treat the peak at the very tip of the key like it is the first cut you can use the 5 pin version of the key to bump a 6 pin cylinder.
Conversely you can also use the 6 pin version on 5 pin locks by pulling it out of the lock 1 full cut.
I personally like the 5 pin version because often you have no idea if your working with a 5 or 6 pin cylinder. The 5 pin inserted fully will just bump the 6 pin as though it were a 5 pin. No fiddiling around. And i don't stand there trying to figure out which version of the key I should be using. Also cuts down on the number of Bump keys you need to have.
