Hey everyone, my name is Jon. I am originally from North Texas (Denton), but am now stationed in Newport News, VA (active Navy). I enjoy lock picking as a hobby and it works great for passing long hours of watch. So far I am still working at getting normal 5 pin tumblers open quickly and I'm getting better. Here is a list of what I practice on right now, any information (security pins, advice, etc..) would be appreciated:

2x Masterlock #140 (my favorites)
1x Unknown Masterlock (picked off an old cut bike chain)
2x 5-pin Kwikset cylinders
1x 7-pin Security Bag

I usually keep everything in that security bag (along with a plastic baggie for extra pins, springs, etc...). I bought the bag with the intention of spending months picking (7 pins is no joke for my skill level). I took it home and opened it in 5 minutes fairly consistently. However ever since that first day I have been unable to get it out open again...weird.

PS: The armory on my ship is FULL of Medeco locks. I am also part of the security force. Maybe someday I can go crazy in there.

How do the medecos fair with the sea water? are they pretty resiliant or are they regulary changed?

To be honest, I'm not sure how well the Medecos hold up to sea water. My primary job is that of an electronics technician. Working security is a temporary position (we are getting the reactor refueled at moment). However most of the one's that I've seen around are inside spaces and aren't exposed to the elements very much. The most common lock that I see around are those 5 button mechanical locks (can't remember the make or model). I know those things almost never need replacement.

They are probably an ilco or kaba push button lock i suspect,

Hy everyone..I'm a newcomer and I would like to know what are the right materials in making padlock shims and lockpicks..I've tried almost anything..floppy disks,soda can's...but I can't get the shims right....Hope you can help me...Thanks

Hi all, just got my first southord picks, picked my first lock in just about a minute! Man what a difference good picks and tension wrench make. I tried making my own from a hacksaw blade but I guess I was a little off because I couldn't even pick my nose with my home brew

I got the PXS-14 for about $24 or so.

At least now I have a real set to go by to make my own. My own only complaint is the plastic handles are very hard to get on the picks!

Hy!It's me again..Today I "hacked" my first padlock using 2 paperclips.First I opened it in 2 minuted,but after a few tries I opened it in 15 seconds.The padlock is a tri-cycle 264.The only problem was that after 4 tries my tension wrench died.I would like to know if the same method of lockpicking can be used on simple door locks.Please answer me....Thanks..
