Bumping...and Tubular Locks...

Incidentally i think the way to go would be to machine the key so instead of cuts its just machined down the full diameter, this means that your left with any rotation you want without actually putting a side force on the pins,

if you could find a way to put a stopper somewhere on the "bump key" which had a spring attached so it springs back up, then you could use a hammer and bump it, but it would not go all the way down, because it would hit the stopper, then the spring would push it back up and you could try it again if you fail the first time... this seems logical to me... i think...

sorry for digging up the grave here...but i had an idea....

it seems to me like you could cut little pieces out of a blank so that it has "nubs" so to speak, and then put it in something like a drill. When it spins around real fast, the nubs will knock each pin down with alot of force, and those that don't stick the first time will get hit again.

Just figure out a way to turn it at the same time....

Ive actually had the same idea long ago but didnt try it in the end due to the fact that the pins actually may be damaged, it would be a sort of raking of a tubular,

You can get cutters for drilling out a tubular lock and they work the same as that to be honest except they are meant to cut the pins, i cant help but think somthing simular would happen with a 'blunt saw'

Maybe it is worth a go but i choose not to pursue it to be honest but then we are going back a number of years when i considered it, i think a tubular pick will take a lot of beating,
