There isn't enough information to say it is, but just by looking at it, we can all tell that this is not for any kind of government security.

Well, it's a laminated lock, so it must suck.

What makes a laminated padlock suck more than any other padlock of the same brand?

Structurally speaking, I would think the laminated design would add resistance to cutting, smashing, bending, shooting attacks compared to a solid padlock of the same material and mass.

At the end of the day, it's still a Masterlock, the cylinders are so easy to pick that even if it's atomic-bomb-proof, it still sucks.

whats really funny to me. is that master and kwikset are the most respected and trusted lock companies in the states, or at least on the west coast. and when i came here to find out that they are probably the worst brand name locks available, i was shocked, and it continues to amaze me that they are so horrible, even though at least half of america depends on them.

on some other thread I recommended that to dissasemble a master padlock, you could pick one lamine, and cut it at forty five degrees in each corner with a hacksaw and the lock would probably come apart since the rivets not at the corner are often fakes. It has just occured to me that it might be even faster to use a drill to sever those rivets, and if you wanted to do it in a way that would make one side of the lock still look intact, you could drill two holes over the rivet on one side, and go deeper until you severed the second rivet on the other side. This might be of use to some magician whoses gaffing a lock, you could even hide the two holes with some art work to look like its never been drilled. USe a vise to hold the lock if you try this.

Laminated padlocks don't suck more than any other. In fact the lamination helps make the body resistant to damage. It is their association with sorry-a** Master #3 and its sorry knock-offs and variations that have given them a bad name. Now if someone made a laminated padlock with ball-bearings, security pins, and a boron-alloy shackle, we would have a better image of them.

Ingersoll padlocks use laminate bodies, and they are soooooooooo insecure.

The construction isn't the same, plus they don't use tumblers, they use 10-levers.

Master pro series locks are also laminated along with some of the medeco padlocks you see on ebay with the plastic armor and black shackle shrouds that look identical to the master pro series.

I don't like the bandwagon kinda "oh my gosh, like somebody said in a previous thread that laminate padlocks suck, and although I've never tested it myself, I am gonna regurgitate this info."

Ingersoll padlocks are laminated padlocks, and Noah said that every laminated padlock sucks - I am just saying that this is false, and little mroe than a sweeping generalisation.

As Zeke said, many big names that people respect use laminate bodies to good effect.

Meh... wha'do I care, carry on...

Actually, from the looks of it, someone with Photoshop just layered some text over a picture of a padlock. :?

lol good eye. I didn't think to question it at first but when you go back and look at it the perspective looks off.
