are masterlock easy to pick?

I just bought this masterpadlock from my school and I have already picked it. It seems fairly easy but there was bareley anyspace to move the picks around, anyways are they hard to pick?

hi killer, it all depends on opinion many people find them easy o pick using the raking technique or the pin by pin, i have personally picked a master padlock pin by pin it took me a while but it opened.

my advice to you is to try both methods and see what works best for you. you never know you might find raking easier or pin by pin easier. try it!

oh they were both easy, it was just a pain in the ass to move the pick around.

yea my method for teh tension wrench so the pick has room is to wedge it in teh top part of the keyhole (the part that looks like the top of the number 5 and pick on bottom part of the "5" this way you will have enough room. hey if you want to can we talk in aim?

im new to picking and I can usualy pick my master padlocks in 5-10 minutes. Might just be luck but It is what i would call easy

I think it depends on the master lock, but if you're picking the usual No 3 master locks you see everywhere, I find them to be fairly easy and can usually pin by pin pick them in under a minute.

My experience with Master:

#1, #3, #5 - easy, all the same 4-pin cylinder with standard pins. Ever since I picked my first #3 I haven't met one of these that I can't pick in no time flat.

140, 150 - a bit harder than the above due to security pins, but I've got mine pretty much down pat.

576 - harder until you figure out the correct tension, then easy. Keyway is a bit tight for a standard wrench and pick -- I had to tension from the top of the keyway until I got slimline picks and can now pick it either way.

930 aka 6230 - big, heavy and scary looking. Was a thorn in my side for awhile, although I've been working at it and it turns out I was using to little tension. Once the pins are picked it takes quite a bit of force to turn the plug, so much that I wouldn't be surprised if the times I had given up in the past were actually successful picks and I just didn't turn the plug hard enough.
