OR...

Hey welcome everybody,
For all thoes new to the site and lockpicking, LP101 is a great place to start.
Take a look at the new users section (here) first and don't be afraid to ask any questions just remember to try a search before posting.

If you're looking for locks buy some but DO NOT PICK LOCKS YOU RELY ON
I repeat DO NOT PICK LOCKS YOU RELY ON, they can and will break and then your house is vulnerable or unable to be opened.

Cheers,
UWSDWF

hey, i'm new here but i've been picking locks for about a year.
i taught myself after being curious about locks. i first began with paperclips and now i'm quite proficient with them, since i could never afford the materials to make my own and i certainly couldn't afford machined picks so, yeah...
i'm currently saving up for a dremel (i already have some blades) so i can finally craft my own...

happy picking to all.....

Hello everyone,

I joined this site in the past, maybe about three or four years ago, but never posted anything until now.

Regrettably, I also forgot about this site. I guess this is why had to reactivate my account, which I just did today. A person whom I met at last month's recent HOPE (Hackers on Planet Earth) Number Six conference in New York City asked me if I was a member of this site. This is what reminded me to check out what I've been missing here. I can already see how much this site has grown since I first came here.

I've been into lock picking ever since attending the 2002 HOPE conference, which is a biannual event. It was there that I watched a presentation on lock picking given by Barry "The Key" Wels, one of the founders of TOOOL (The Open Organisation of Lockpickers). This presentation inspired me to immediately start teaching myself about locksmithing and lock picking. By the time I had attended the 2004 HOPE conference, I already had two year years of lock picking experience, which allowed me to coach my fellow conference attendees on developing their own lock picking skills.

Even if I had never been introduced to lock picking in the way that I was, I think that I still would have ultimately found this site. Earlier in my life, I was always fascinated whenever I would see lock picking being featured, albeit inaccurately, on television shows such as "The A-Team". These days, with all that I have since discovered, it's just funny to me now how fictional characters like Jack Bauer, on the television show "24", can pick open what appears to be a deadbolt cylinder in less time than it would take most of us to even get the pick and tension tool inserted into the keyway.

Now that I'm back within this community, I'll be happy to share my lock pick experience with everybody here. I look forward to any questions posed toward me, so feel free to ask. Thanks for reading.

I also just joined with one question to ask?

Is there a way to reset a combination lock on a briefcase. the case is open and the numbers were reset without my knowledge. Some secret combination of numbers to allow me to reset from scratch. Its a Protocol briefcase. Thanks

If the numbers can be reset then there will be a lever or button on the back somewhere, press it in or move it to the side and put your new numbers in, this can only be done when the correct combo is actually set on the dials though,

If you dont know those have a look around site for seasame decoding,

Hi, I'm Soda Jones.

I've always had an interest in picking locks, I've even considered finding a job or a college class in the field. I'm not sure what interests me so much, I guess it's just the challenge, and of course the fun in attempting to overcome that challenge. I heard about this site, and I'm really excited to meet people who know what they're doing, because I certainly do not. I hope I don't offend people with noobish questions, and I'll do my best to find stuff out on my own without having to post questions that have been answered a million times. Thanks for reading this.

it's like 3:00 in the morning where I'm at. I'm sure everyone is glad to have you though and you will find the everyone is more than willing to help if you have a problem that hasn't been adressed in the stickies or just want to toss around some ideas. Good night and insomnia is a terrible curse.

Afternoon people :D

Just joined and been busy picking up so much information ever since! Found and learnt a lot already. I've had a long interest in locks and how to open them but most of all just like to absorb knowledge!

Just finished a 3 day course with the BLA - reading on here they don't have much of a good reputation (and I agree with a lot of it too!) but I feel I got a good basic introduction to being a locksmith and was completely non-destructive until the final day. Even prior to finding out more about the BLA I wasn't naive enough to think I was going to know it all after just 3 days so I'm looking for some more training. I'm in the process of setting up my own company but it is going to be very limited to the very easiest situations. It's going to be hard to turn away business until I get more skills tho!

It'd be great to hear from any lockies living or working in the Bristol area too.

Cheers for reading,

Nick

Be careful starting trading without the skill base, you will soon get the name for yourself as being unable to do anything and then when you are better and can pick locks well you wont get the business because the word is already out that you cant do it,

Make sure your confident and able to deal with most situations before starting,

Spend a lot of time with picking BS mortice locks,

Hello,
Found this site through the newsweek article on msnbc.com. Looks like a great source of information as I have just started a locksmith business in Spring Hill, FL. Lord willing, I will make it work and be able to support my family. Just moved here from PA and wanted to do something fresh and in the service field. Look forward to interacting with other site members.
