A 110 is a big step up from a union, or pretty much anything else fro that matter.

What course did you do? And where? And what pick are you using? can you be a little more specific.

It's all about the tension . . .

ime useing the ajam c.c.p its the one with the crome plated pick its as strong ass hell if you get the pick stuck in a profit you can wrench the barrel round with no damge to the pick. its got great feel because of the perspex pick end. but saying all this i can,t get afeel for the 110 do people pick this on a trial or error basis or is their a sequence

Mate, your wasting your time curtain picking this lock, you'll never do it on a door - concentrate on the other locks and fine tune, you do not need great tension to pick the 110, you need to feel the antipicks, gates and decode basically to pick, there are lots of people here who are great curtain pickers, not many can do the 110.

Keep on practicing with it and good effort if you get it but for sheer practicallity on a door, you'll need a pin and cam decoder for this one

The perspex covers do help, if you have some spare detainers cut the front off three so you can use them as spacers, then start at two detainers, then three, four until all five are back in this will develop your feel for the picking process.

Good luck with it, but as I said to start, don't let it take over your life cause you'll either be very very lucky on the door or reaching for a drill.....!

cheers sidepick .enjoyed reading your comments, ill stick at it because ime determined to crack the 110 .ill never pick one in a door because i ll never become a locksmith to me its a sport but theres no challange to era except the fortress but ive picked that a few times now . so ived moved on to chubb locks, ive also got a mu t lock pickset but i keep hitting the inner pins when trying to pick the outer ones so ime pretty crap at picking these locks too .any advice welcome .

UNJACK,Sids right on this one mate, ive been a lockie for a fair while now and im lucky enough to know and spend some time with some of the best in the business and i only know of a handfull that can pick the 110 with a curtain pick(does that include you sid?) most locksmiths i know will drill this lock but those that have the pin and cam have good success too.
If you are faced with these on warrants a quick entry is required and although i know the likes of Alan and Martin are picking these VERY quickly, they are in the minority,Evo can p+c these in under 10 mins ,personally im ashamed to say if i need to be in quickly i know with the rotary ill have it open in 5,not nde i know but if you need a quick entry its ok.
If tou are only a hobby picker then fair play to you and good luck im sure with sh*tloads of practice youll get there in the end

i had never stripped this lock but yesterday i decided to take the good advice I have been given on this thread and packed the levers and tried to pick one lever at a time. When I stripped it i realised that there was so much grease on these levers that most of my problem was due to these sticking together. I have a clear screen for this lock that I bought from the AJam course that I went on, without it i don't think that i would be able to pick this lock. I went through all of the levers and actually picked it with the clear screen on, but the problem i had of picking this lock without a clearscreen when it is in antipick on the lever the lift on the lever feels exactly the same as if it is in the gating . I re attached the plate to this lock and finally picked it, but the only reason I did it is because i know the lift of the levers so well. You would have to have a pen and pad to go through the process of elimination with this lock to determine whether it was in antipick or whether it is in the gating. I am going to swop the levers about and try to do this, I will let you know how I get on. If there is anyone out there who knows how to determine the antipick from the gating I would love to know how to do it. Thanks for all your help UNJACK
