i am very excited to get my combo set with comes with a full lock pick set, jigglers and a snap gun.

heres my dads question. since he familiar with locks as it takes so much effort and time to learn to pick the locks by hand picks how can a snap gun just open it within a couple seconds. it just seems to good to be true. how much practice would be needed to operate it fairly good? (mainly on 6 pinned pin tumblers) oh and he is the manager/custodian of our building.

k heres my question sry but i couldn't find anything on this but what are bump keys? i just see all this hype and talk about them.

thanks.

To Open locks super fast, you need pcik gun skills, i have them shrub DB we all have them its not hard Just click the link, and it will teach you.

Enjoy :P And best of luck on your single Pin practice as well. Any questions feel free to PM me, i would be happy to suggest good practice locks, and pick finishing.

That's true. A snap gun can often open a lock in no-time. What a snap gun does, is when it strikes on the bottom pins, the kinetic energy is transferred to the upper pins, which jump up, while leaving the lower pins in place. A snap gun doesn't require a lot of practise in order to use it correctly. Keep in mind, that a snap gun will not always work. In fact - quite often it may prove useless. It depends on the design. I've heard that even the commercial ones can prove almost useless. Single-pin picking is the most sure (and fun) NDE method.
what1sth1s wrote:what are bump keys?

A bump key works on quite similar basis to a snap-gun. Those two methods are bypass methods that recently became quite touchy subjects on our forum. Read around, search a lot, and you'll probably find that most or all of the questions you might have, were already anwsered before. A bump key does not require a lot of practise from a person, to be used correctly. The main flaw of this method is that you need to have a key for each lock-profile. A lock can be also damaged easily if approached with a bumping method. The good sides of bumping would be: it's cheap (all you need are a blank key and a tool to bump with - like the tomahawk or the key-bump designed by Omikron), it's quite easy and it can be used to unlock the majority of pin tumbler locks. Just search around... There has been a lot of talking about that recently. There's even a nice tutorial on making bump-keys.

Ps. Don't worry about the waffle thing. It just became fasnhionable for members to waffle each other instead of flaming.

Cheers,
N.

Ps. I don't see the point in flaming someone for asking about bumping or about the snap-gun. Bumping is still a topic for the public forums. We might not like it, but that's the way it is.
