Good Starter Locks

So what are some good locks to being with? While at defcon, I quickly got all but a few of the "practice" locks done, everything from 1 pin -> 5 pin without problems.

I know it'd be wise to start messing with "pick-resistant" pins, and the like, but suggestions on lock types/model numbers would be great.

I'd like to stay with pin locks for the time being, as I think I need to become more proficient with them before starting into different lock types.

I did do a search, but didn't come up with results.

Hmm, if you've already mastered an easy 5 pin tumbler, I'd move onto something like a Corbin, Russwin, or Sargent (popular on lower security commercial buildings).

You can buy one of these used, strip it down, and determine if it has security pins or not. If it doesn't, you can ask at a local locksmith for some, or order some from Varjeal Varjeals Toolshed

YOu might want to pick it first without security pins, I dont know what you were picking at the con, but these locks can be tricky even without security pins, depending on if they have a High-Low configuration.

Some other higher quality residential\low security commercial brands are Yale and Schlage, these may be found at a local DIY or hardware store.
