Union five pin padlock

Struggling to pick a standard keyway 5 pin Union padlock?

I can manage easily to get 3 or 4 pins to set, but no.2 is givng me the trouble.

Question doe's this lock have spool/mushroom pins?

I am using feather light tension which is enabling me to get the other pins easily enough.

The lock is unlocked as I have the keys & the latch is held back by the open shackle of another padlock - so there is no latch mechansism tension to overcome.

Am I doing something wrong, or have I just got a difficult lock to pick.

So you have the shackle of another padlock in the shackle hole of this padlock???

Do you think your setting the #2 pin? if so if you continue to try and lift the pin does the plug try to turn the opposite way a bit?

Finally managed to pick this padlock.

It took a great deal of patience and a back to basic approach

I limited myself to just three picks - half diamond, hook & dental ball end.

I think only having three picks made me concentrate more and not keep trying different picks,

Sure enough eventualy - eureka
