Hey everybody, I live in VA and it seems that the laws here are kinda strict on lockpicking and owning a lock pick set and whatnot. I was wondering if there was a site out there that would sell to me if I am not licensed or anything like that but if I just want to learn to lockpick as like a hobby or something. I am 19 so the age part shouldnt be much of a problem but i just want to start and it seems like every site requires you to have some type of license or something. Im not looking to become some type of mastermind criminal im just looking to pick up a new hobby. Can anybody help me out please? (that or if anybody on here would be interested in selling me a set or something)

There are loads of tutorials on making your own sets if you want, click the pic in my sig to go to a general guide of posts on site,

As for your dilema take a look at this sites sponcer, put the code in the relevant box and get an extra 10% off the bill,

Most places ask that you are a locksmith but where its simply a box to tick or that it just says you have to be you will find that some do actually sell them,

Have a look around site to find the law thread so you may find out what you can and cant do in your neck of the woods, keep them to yourself at home and youll be fine,

Let me get this right, you can all own guns but lockpicks gets you in trouble :?

The laws are much screwier then that. For instance, in many states you can carry a concealed handgun with the relevent licenses, but that license does not typically cover other weapons. Most states have laws against carrying fixed blade knives, so in a lot of states you could legally carry a pistol with a permit, but the minute you start walking around with a knife you're a criminal.

but is says...

"It is the responsibility if the BUYER, not Lockpickshop.com, to ascertain and obey all applicable local, state and federal laws pertaining to the possession and use of items ordered. Consult your local and state laws before ordering if you are in doubt. By placing an order, the buyer asserts that the products will be used in a lawful manner and that they are of legal age. Absolutely NO sales to minors! By placing an order for locksmithing tools, the buyer asserts to be a bonified member of the locksmithing industry or other qualified personnel.
United States Federal law prohibits interstate mailing of locksmithing devices unless the device is mailed to a lock manufacturer or distributor; a bona fide locksmith; a bona fide repossessor, or legally authorized recipients."

I am 19 but would i still be able to order from them?

Legalese translation: You better check your local, state, and federal laws, because we're sure not going to bother. By placing an order, we're sure that you're a locksmith, never mind what you actually do for a living. It's not really a problem for us, see, we have a cute disclaimer! Federal mail prohibits us from sending to anybody that doesn't know the secret handshake, but we're not going to check and see if you know it. Send us your money, and we'll send you picks.
