When it comes down to it there is nothing better than manual tools for your Lock pick Set, whether they be retail, homebrew, macgyver style. DIY'ers look here.

Open to anyone, i have a few i am whipping up now Make what ever you like, but try to invent your own pick design, or upgrade an existing one to be more functional

As long as you need, this is just here to gather picks that people took and extra 2 hours one, and another 5 for thought and finishing.
I basically want to see what people can push out besides just a ground down hacksaw blade.
Things like handle incorporation, that will transfer feeling better than rivets or spot welding.
Tang shape, it's significance, what specific lock or locks is it used for? The thickness, and how well you use its given thickness to shape the tang.
I Used to have a panic attack problem, i have since then got over it. But if you know pnaic attacks, you know how it feels when you noticed every litttle thing wrong to worry about.
Well thats how i am, but only its more controled. Yea long story, just take all variables together and incorporate them into a pick, which ech compliments the other.
And nobody make any wise cracks into how i think, it sjust a passion that i have and the way i think. Its a mind trip but when you figure it all out, your pick rocks.
Try making a blue print of the size of a piece of paper, make all measurements and just look at and think what if this happens or this is comes up and alter it.
Good Luck
Andy

some scrambled eggs and t shirts I'm done with my tool its a telescopic tension wrench. at first i wasted my time with a metal tube and cut slits in the sides to hold the wrenches. then i was looking at the shabby job i did as always. i changed it to a bic pen with rubber on the insides to hold every thing and some soft rubber end caps. it holds 4 different tension wrenches. two have picks on the other end so the can be slid out and used. one end holds every thing snug the other takes one wrench. it can be slid out to make i soft spring feel or choked up on to make a firm wrench. I'll post some pics soon i just have to take them.
i also put a small hole going side ways to slide a pin threw so it could be tacked to the door but it didn't feel right so i took it off but it worked just fine.

smallparts.com has all the supplies you need outside of a lathe and mill and the expertise. My bro is a machinist and I am an amature hack at running a mill and lathe so.... I mess stuff up alot and use alot of material but get stuff done. My bro gets it done first time everytime from my specs. (Thats what I do, egineering drawings, etc). We make a good pair.
For the best book out there on high security locks and their operation, take a look at amazon.com for High-Security Mechanical Locks An Encyclopedic Reference. Written by our very own site member Greyman! A true 5 Star read!!

bpc293 wrote:first time puting up pics sorry. what size should i be aiming for
I usually resize my pics to 600 width and keep the proportions so heigth will vary. With a 60o pixel wide pic, it will fit on screen without horizontal scrolling even at 1024x768. If the thread is already busted anyways or if I think details is important I go for 800 width. That means on my 1024x768 I have to scroll a bit sideways, losing the navigation sidebar but still got the entire post area on screen. 1280xwhatever users should be fine with that without hor. scrolling as well.
That's just how I do it, and never had anyone complaining.
Due to financial limitations the light at the end of tunnel has been turned off until further notice.
