Practice Locks

Im just starting out and am trying to find some good practice locks.
I went to the hardware store to look, but couldn't find any that I could be sure could be taken apart. The helper at the store wasnt very helpful.

What are some good practice locks?

at the hardware store- a deadbolt is a quick and easy lock to disassemble. look for kwikset, ezset, black and decker, defiant, or any similar lock- generally the cylinder is already exposed on the tailpiece end, and you don't have to take any complicated measures to get to the point that you can remove the plug.

most, if not all, of their key-in-knob sets should be rekeyable- however they may vary in how you take them apart, some may require tools to do so.

Thanks for the help, I went and got a kwikset deadbolt and went through db's exercise. Im up to five pins and am both pleased and saddened at how easy it is. Ive mixed the pins up and all, and well, I guess kwiksets are just easy, but I haven't yet reached the level to move on. Ill keep practicing. Thanks for the suggestions.

I stopped by a locksmith shop and asked if they had any extra cylinders i could practice on. I offered to pay, but the locksmith gave me a couple of commercial cylinders. 2 Russwin Corbin and a Schlage commercial.
