mortise threads

I'm making a lock board on a briefcase well its a old plastic drill case.
i got the ideal from shrub. i was wondering can i go to the hardware store and get a nut that will fit the back of a mortise cylinder. the case is pretty big. i think its going to turn out good. i just have to secure the locks now.

one more thing a mortise cylinder lock is one of the only locks i never took apart or installed i mean the hardware. all most every thing is selfexplanitory. do locksmiths service these kinds of locks allot. should i go buy one and what is the most popular one used in the states.

i have removed fixed and installed skeleton key locks.

If you make the hole slightly smaller than you need it you should find the mortice cylinder will screw into the plastic quite well,

most of them do. i realized that right away. but because of the inner mold of the case i had to really put pressure on the drill and some of the holes are a ... hair to large. right now theres fifteen locks on it, just a few are not tight enough.the other locks on it have mounting screw holes so i can rig something for them. any suggestion for the loose one's.

think a hose clamp would work with out damaging the cylinder?

Put a bead of silicon around the back or put a run of epoxy glue around the edge around the join, if you lightly grease the lock the glue wont stick to it and you should be able to unscrew it again if need be,
