Am I gonna be the only one to mention that the handcuffs have a plastic see thru top lamination to show you all that, where didja get the see through handcuffs. I'm saving up for the clejuso #15 or some of those east german cuffs with the lever tumblers and all rounded off

I got it at Shomer-Tec:
http://www.shomer-tec.com/site/product. ... 4C3B4E316A
The see-through design of this special training handcuff allows you to view what is really happening when a handcuff is being locked, unlocked, double- locked, etc. It is a fully functional handcuff that lets the student see and understand the inner mechanical workings of a handcuff. Both the strengths and weaknesses inherent in all handcuffs become apparent. Also a useful tool for learning unconventional handcuff opening methods, such as the shim pick. Price $34.00
They have a locksmithing department:

I am going to leave this open until I hear otherwise. Whoever locked the first thread please pm me if this one is locked and let me know. I do not see the harm in it as handcuff bypassing videos have been allowed in the past.
The pics were removed from the introduce yourself here thread by me because they were not relevant there.
For the best book out there on high security locks and their operation, take a look at amazon.com for High-Security Mechanical Locks An Encyclopedic Reference. Written by our very own site member Greyman! A true 5 Star read!!

I have not seen a post like this before, it is very interesting. Good job, you must have done your research. It also had pictures and showed exactly what to do to shim it. Nice post!

excellent pictures and I finally understand the mechanics of it. They were showing this method at HOPE 6 in the lockpicking village, but I wasn't sure what was part inside was being shimmed in order to relase the cuffs.
thanks, and cool see through cuffs!

How to defeat the double lock:
http://www.policeone.com/writers/column ... es/107554/
iii. Double Lock- This is either a push pin or spring coil system, used to ensure the handcuff stays in the original locked position, and does not tighten during transportation.
1. Push pins - This is done by striking a hard surface in the direction of the pins using gravity to pull the pins to the front. This bypasses the pressure needed to unlock the double lock.
2. Spring Coil - This is done by using the same method as above or placing a small hard thin object inside the double lock space, and applying pressure to the opposite side, unlocking the double lock.
a. The picking, jimmying, jarring or bypassing the double lock mechanism mentioned above do not work with the GOTCHA handcuffs. The geared mechanism prevents them from being jimmied. At worse, the shim will become meshed between the gear and swing arm teeth and prevent any further rotation of the swing arm, and the handcuff will have to be cut off the subject. There is nothing to pick as in a conventional handcuffs. They have even designed the handcuff to prevent the use of a ballpoint pen barrel to make a key. The key activates the double lock and striking the handcuff against a wall or desk cannot defeat it. The only way to open and double lock the GOTCHA is by using the universal handcuff key for all GOTCHA handcuffs.
b. Please note that the GOTCHA handcuff key is not the typical and common handcuff key millions of people already have. Outside of using conventional methods and machinery tools, i.e., using a hacksaw, the escape methods of the old do not work with this handcuff.
And here are GOTCHA cuffs:

I've been meaning to post this for a while, but never got around to it.
The notion of 'double locking' handcuffs by pressing the back end of a key amazes me. This could be fairly dangerous, if a self-harming offender decided to tighten the cuffs and then push the 'locking' button with anything they could get their hands on!
In Australia, the double locking handcuffs commonly in use require the key to be inserted, and turned in the direction opposite to that used to unlock the cuffs. Much more secure, much harder to undo (from the offender's point of view!).

Regarding self harming offenders, this would never happen over here, since all police/ security officers are trained from day one to double lock the handcuffs right after making sure they have been applied correctly.
The handcuffs in Australia, can you post some pics of them? We also have handcuffs over here that double lock by turning the key the opposite direction, but they operate the same way as any other standard handcuff, in other words, there is still the "locking button" you push with the key, as another double locking option.
here is a link to the type I am refering to: http://www.copsplus.com/prodnum3066.php

Hi Unlisted,
The brand I am referring to is SAF-LOK.
Apparently the newest version 'Mk 4' incorporates a push button double-locking mechanism, as well as the key method. I appreciate that people are trained to double-lock cuffs, but in the heat of an arrest things happen!
For the record, I don't like the saf-lok push button idea either.
The cuffs are shown here: http://www.safecity.com.au/saflok.htm
