I dont want to grind of the pick just yet, I think I will wait one more day till I do that. And it doesnt make any since, because the Pick key, matches up perfectly with the origional key. You would think that it would work. Also Is it normay for the pick to be able to just free spin in the lock? It seems to grab at the sides and makes a grinding sound, but doesnt seem to do anything inside the lock to help open it. At least with pin tumblers I could feel whats going on, in this, I have no clue. I want to cut one open just to understand it better, Nick
feeling very sad....
sounds like the pick is not going far enough in the back. You will feel the pick stop when it's in the roght spot, be hard to turn, I just push in more while I turn. Although I did take a little off the tip too.
Are you using the right pick? It's the first one from the right on this pic,

Yep, thats the one. And I have also used all of the other picks as well. I will get a video up soon, so that will cure most of the questions. When I look down into the lock, I can see the hole that the top of the key is supposed to fit in, and I'm wondering if the pick key just isnt fitting in that. that would explain a lot. I guess i will try to grind off just the sides of the top part to see what happens. But I'll have to grab some breakfast first. Food first, then locks....course, I could just go hungry. Lord knows I've done that before while picking a new lock, hehe. I remember late in the day thinking that i was really hungry, and I couldnt figure it out, and the grlfriend was telling me that I haddnt eaten all day since my new lock pick set got in! oh well,
Nick

no not the sides! Just the very tip, and only a little bit at a time.
Good Luck!

Ok, just grind down the tip, at the very top? to make it shorter? or grind down the sides of the top part, to make that piece that sticks up, thinner? thanks for the quick reply,
Nick

I had trouble too at first, then I tried the grinding just as described in the user review on this link, see user review..
http://www.lockpickshop.com/p-WP-10.html
After that it worked, even worked better trying shrubs tip!
All I did was grind a little bit off the very tip. I may not have taken enough off as it still is sticky some times, but I don't want to take too much off.
Don't worry, you'll get it

Thanks, I'll be getting the grinder out and shortening it. About how much should I take off? Does anyone have any pic's? I'm thinking that I will just do half a millimeter at a time, I just dont want to take off too much. I'm way too worried about screwing up, but if I do, I guess that would mean that I'd have to order more, and that would mean that I should by more picks at that time, since it would save on shipping. Always have to look out for the best deals! :p

that sounds about right, I didn't measure, but had the lock with me at the grinder. I lightly hit the end on the grinder (hold tight) and tried the lock. I repeated no more then two more times and it opened.
I was worried about taking too much off too. But I weighed the consenquences carefully. I have a pick that does NOT work, I may be able to make it work, if I fail I'm no worse off
The only thing I would add is to work it a bit before you grind more off. I did find pressing down on the shackle helps too.

I own Southord warded padlock picks. The part number is WP-10. Here's a link to show what they look like:

I have yet to encounter ANY warded padlock that I cannot open with these picks. Until I do, I would not consider grinding any of them.

Dang it, now you had to go and say that. Now I dont know what to do, to grind or not to grind. The picks that you posted are the exact set that I have from SO. But they dont seem to open the locks that I have. hmmmmm....... I will have to think about this for awhile.

Lucky1406,
Since the WP-10 set only costs about ten dollars, it should not be a big expense to get another set if you have to, right?

Yeah, true, I'll get to grinding, And like I said before, If I have to get another set and pay the shipping and handling, I guess I might as well buy some other stuff to go with it! hehe

That's the spirit! Just have the lock with you when u grind, go slow, only take off a fraction at a time, work it each time diligently, pushing in the shackle if u have to. I think you'll be fine
