Masterlock 647

Having still no luck with my masterlock #3 (but I feel like I'm getting closer) I thought I would try a different kind of lock picking - combination locks. The one I happen to have at home is a masterlock 647, according to their website (http://www.masterlock.com/cgi-bin/produ ... late=style) with three seperate numbers (0-9) that need to be aligned to open it.

So - how can I get this open not knowing the code? I mean, I do know the code, but I'd like to learn to open it just for fun.

its pretty easy to search the site actually.

know that you can use AND in between words to narrow your search. that and try searching different things. sometimes you are searcging for something that hasnt been discussed in detail yet. or maybe its advanced.

ezrad, you can get the code by the sesamee decoder method. Cut apart a soda can and get a thin strip of it about 2cm long. you will need to stick one end of the strip into the lock casing next to one of the wheels. Make sure the end you stick into the lock casing is flat along the bottom and is narrow enough to fit (maybe 3mm wide or so).

Now search the site for sesamee decoders to find out how they work. I have used this method on that lock and it works well. This really isn't lockpicking though.

What sort of tools are you using on the Masterlock #3?

I personally think its much easier to start with a Kwikset... The Masterlock keyway is hard when you aren't very agile with your pick.

Well, in searching the site for Sesamee Decoder I found a post from Digital Blue (in the post "combination lock") which worked. Just sort of pulling on the shackle and seeing which numbers open more freely.

Now I feel very confident and will put renewed effort into that Masterlock no. 3

eek. That's not Sesamee decoding (which is much cooler).

I'll try to post something about it later... I'm still working on two longer posts too. I'll finish some day.
