Magnum By Masterlock

Postby CantKillAVirus » 29 Aug 2006 0:20

I have purchased a Magnum and a #3 Masterlock padlock for practice. WIthin the first 15 minutes of picking with my brand new picks on the Magnum I opened it. But I've tried so many times with the #3 and when I decided to give up and slowly let go of the tension wrench I heard all 4 pins pop back into place. What am I doing wrong???

you are probably over setting a pin(or two).

try picking the pins from back to front, or front to back...

i have never had too many issuses with the #3's just keep trying.

I think you already know what that is, but; oversettting is when you shove the bottom pin up into the top of the lock.

Look at your key, the bites that are set high on the master #3, those pins require more careful attention setting. But the #3 can be raked verry easily. As always the tension is the most important thing.

Master #3's are really pathetic. Some can be easily picked even using your pick upside down and just wiggling it while applying the correct tension, which is not too hard to find.

You don't even need a pick to open the #3!

Just 2 tension wrenches! One for tension, one for wiggling around

My guess is your trying to hard, relaxe.

I've picked a master #3 with only ONE tension wrench 8)

I just turned it as I was jabbing it at the pins.

instead of little padlock symbols for 'security' Master should have a scale for security like Brinks has, that way, when they rate a #3 they could put the rating pointer three feet to the left-most part of the scale.

yeah, I was just at Lowe's recently, and was kinda disgusted at what they branded "high security". Maybe they should say high-security, and put for what species it is secure for...maybe a tapeworm, perhaps?
