As we do not know where you are from (update your profile) I can only say what goes on here in the UK.

I personally have never seen lock picks in any harware stores over here.

However thry can easily be bought online, try Devonlocks.com or any of the US based sites.

you really need to update your location for accurate advice. Generally the best place for picks is to make them yourself, after that, buy them online. If you are lucky enough to live in a country like France then there are "security" shops in the high street where anyone can walk in and buy them.

For whatever reason you can't buy online or elsewhere then making them is the way to go. You can always buy the the necessary tools needed to do so from hardware/diy shops or borrow from a friend/relative and there is loads of good advice on here to help you on your way but as others has said more info would enable people to guide you better

The necessary tools for basic construction really isn't that complex. Hammer, file, and some metal is really the basics...

Try a magic shop, I've seen some SO picks and a book in one of those.

They might not be on display, so you'll have to ask. About Â£18 I think.

There is only one reason I can think of for not being able to buy online, no checking account. All checking accounts now come with a debit card that can be used as a credit card. You don't even need a job to open a checking account, just some money.

Who doesn't have a checking account these days?

1. school kids
2. homless people
3. ilegal aliens

from those who would nopt have the tools to make their own?

1. school kids
2. homeless people

from those who would not be able to buy the tools?

1. school kids

I could be wrong, it happens, but I suspect this is a school kid, probably around 14.

Wish I could get my wife's son to get a job. He's 21, a school kid, not homless, not a illegal alien, but has never worked a day in his life!

I started work when I was 14, had to, single mom, no money. So if I wanted any thing, like a bike, or stereo, or pick set, I had to work for it.

So I respect any kid who is a go getter and hard worker, even illegal aliens
