spring steel

When it comes down to it there is nothing better than manual tools for your Lock pick Set, whether they be retail, homebrew, macgyver style. DIY'ers look here.

are they the same size about as your hpc picks. which one do you think is stronger. do you think the blade and the head of he pick can be ground down smaller then the hpc picks and still hold there strength. OK one more no two more. :) where they the flex serrated steak knifes or the stiffer ones. and last q. how was it grinding it. did it heat up real quick. i haven't used my grinder in a while. i use files and i make two at a time so as soon as i feel a little heat i switch picks. it takes forever and then when i mess one up it drives me nuts.

i dont mean to bombard you with questions. I'm just buzzen first time in a year.
thanks

They are a bit thicker but not much which makes them much sturdier then the hpc or peterson. I like it a lot. I will get some photos up soon, tomorrow I will have some more time.

I did not have to grind down the thickness at all. It was even across the blade. But I did grind towards the middle of the blade. That is where the thickness is pretty even. I will post a picture of the knives too. They were cheap steak knives, but are stiff, stiffer then my hpc and peterson. I hope I can find more because they were pretty easy to work with.

Grinding them was pretty easy. Yes they heat up quickly. I would dump them in water after about 12 seconds, they don't get red, just hot. I used the finer coarse wheel. I probably could have used the dremel to cut them down to size but did not want a sharp hot piece of knife hitting me. The dremel came in handy for fine tuning.

Good idea making two at a time!

Sounds nice, I'll have to get out and start buying up some knives.
