It was a good day and considering the amount who go on about meetups etc only a few came from here. It was good to put faces to usernames etc and as usual everyone went away with some more knowledge. Pizzaro was well into it and no doubt is thinking up ways to make tools now :D

Here are a few pics from the day - several cannot be shown as they may offfend - I suspect Darren took them :-)

The two challenge locks were not picked although one was a Gibbons painted black to confuse and the other a Yale with very high and very low cuts with Banham insides. Sid decoded it and almost impressioned it until his blank snapped. However, Sid was popping 110s open with ease and clearly with a divine assistant.

Considering we started at 9am and finished at 2am -ish, only the Locca rep actually fell over drunk, and he had a flight to catch, I think the midnight BBQ helped the rest of keep going.

It was nice to see people pop in and out during the day and a few from this forum, more at the summer event I am sure.

Next South East meeting

Postby SPANNER » 5 May 2006 7:03

:?: Has anyone got any idea when the next next meeting will be ? im chomping at the bit after seeing the photos from the last meeting. Who organises them ? If you have a problem with a venue I live in a small village called Micheldever station which is on the London Waterloo mainline(11 miles north of Winchester and 11 miles south of Basingstoke) it takes less than an hour by Train from Waterloo and the M3 and A303 are on the doorstep. I unfortunatley do not have a workshop of my own (yet) BUT i live next door to a fantastic pub called the Dove Inn (www.doveinn.com) which has a function suite With bar and plenty of space joined on to the main bar which is completley private so no worries about prying eyes or worries about clamping down on tables. The landlord will let us use this area for the meetings and more than happy for it to be a regular venue(if required) weekdays or weekends for those who have a problem with time off. It also has accomodation upstairs all en suite for about £35 ish (check the website above) for those who wish to sample some fine Hampshire ale. Please could you let me know how viable this sounds so i can get the ball rolling. Many thanks SPANNER

I think these meetings are now closed to the 101 community and only run as a icl meeting, you will need to join that if you want to go,

If you look at the top of the screen a link often comes up in the adverts that will take you there or to a site that will link it,

i believe they have both ICL and general meets, only the icl meets are open to icl members only, the general meets are still open to all, for these sidpick i believe is the man to ask as to when.

pinky is correct, these meetings still take place, usually once per quarter. Some are ICL members only and some are free for all and a good number of 101 members usually attend.

Sorry, further to my post it should be 'trading lockies!'

We'd love to have non locksmiths attend but the possiblity of the 'open invite' being misinterpreted has caused some concern!

So sorry to get anyones hopes up, hopefully caught it before I let anyone down!

Look out for a thread on European locks. Still feel free to PM me

Well, as its normally down south I thought I’d add this here. The South East Lockpicking meetings that have been held in Guildford has, for this year only gone up North. After a meeting of minds it was decided that Nottingham was a nice quiet place where there will be nothing to distract us from locks, lockpicking and all the other stuff we get up to.
Well that’s what I was led to believe!!!

The ICL summer event will take place on 14th July 2007 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel (formally the Royal Hotel) in the very centre of Nottingham. All are welcome.
Several conference rooms have been booked and there will be a mixture of exhibitors and presentations, demonstrations and training classes.
We will start at 10am and finish at approx 5pm. Entrance to the event will be free to ICL members and £5 to non-members. Rooms are available at a rate of £90 per night. Please quote the ICL when booking. A limited number have been set aside for us so please book well ahead.
The Crowne Plaza Hotel, Wollaton Street, NOTTINGHAM NG1 5RH; 0870 787 5161;

Any problems PM me and I'll try to help!

This is open to all locksmiths and will be a cracking laugh!

Nottingham on a saturday night, 150,000 people out on town, women outnumber men 5 to 1 , very quiet sidpick.

The event should be a good one, with safe a class from one of the most respected safe engineers in the uk, and tips and hints on picking on all of the stands and in classes, and all free, i like free.

Im told there will be discounts on the day from all exhibitors and some bargains to be had.

Then of course the obligatory evening get together for a very quiet drink to the early hours, wonder how many will make it from the 24 hour bar to bed this time?

This event should be a good one as ive discovered what some of the FREE classes will be. Any trading locksmiths who like picking locks then this is a great show to attend. Also its a great way to network and get to know other locksmiths.
The icl came about because of people who met on here and wanted to make the uk locksmith industry better, a few meetings turned into something much bigger.
This is the actual thread that brought us together so if your interested in seeing new stuff like the pickbuster treatment for locks that makes them virtually un-bumpable then you must get to this event.
You dont have to stay at the hotel the event is hosted at if its outside of your budget, there are plenty of others to choose from.
Remember trading lockies only as some of the demos are safe related by a top safe engineer.

See you there.
