I’m not sure if I’m allowed to post this here as I feel I may fall into the advance category. Today at work I was watching some railway engineers (read trained chimps) trying to open a tool locker they had lost the key for, It had some sort of mortice lock behind a steel plate.
Having tried a sledge hammer and been defeated and having spent some time looking for a gas axe and failing they decided the best methods was the termite welding powder (this is normally used for welding train tracks together). They made a bowl around the lock with some form of putty or clay filled it with welding powder and lit it. It certainly solved the lock problem, it unfortunately incinerated several tools that were on the floor of the cabinet and set fire to a Gerry can.
The guys I was working with had to have a rest after we laughed so hard. I was gutted I didn’t have my camera phone. I will try and get a pic of the 6 inch hole they made in the door tomorrow.
