Disassembling a brass padlock and assembling it again.

Postby mark timon » 6 Sep 2006 11:27

Hi Everybody!

I'was just wondering if you can disassemble a padlock and then assembling it again so no damage or signs of being disassembled can be found.

It's for a magic routine I'd like to do in which a padlock is found in a glass bottle but the neck of the bottle is to tight for the padlock to be inserted in.

In other words, can you disassemble a padlock and then assemble again inside a glass bottle :?:

Thanks

post a picture of the lock...

but I seriously doubt it would be possibly to put it in a bottle if it won't fit as it is. this is as the body will not come apart in a non destructive manner

How big is the bottle?

Darnit! There was a thread about this a while back, and was pretty bloody good. I wish I could remember the title!

I'll try searching for it a bit, providing nobody finds it sooner. :)

A padlock like this one.

The padlock do not need to work properly once inside the bottle.
it must seem as if it were ordinary and was not modified. :!:

You would have to remove the bottom and then put it back on, this is usually done when the bottle is blown,

I professionally practiced magic in the past and doing so I would say it depends on the size of the lock.

I however would say it's possible if the lock could be modified in a similar fashion as the folding coin. This trick consists of showing a regular coin to the observers having them hold and examine it, then through slide of hand, switch the coin for the trick folding coin and explain that you will put this regular coin into this bottle (have them examine the bottle aswell), and simply insert the trick coin into the bottle. Thus the coin will be folded up into your hand and unfolded once into the bottle via the rubber band around the coin.

I normally don't share secrets, which is why this is the first time I have shared that I know magic to begin with, but this is a trick commonly found in many books, and a small investment in a coin. With some practice it is very intimidating and successful.

Before you pick a lock:
The first thing that you should do is check to make sure that
the lock is your's and secondly make sure its not in use.
