Stuck Lock...?

Postby romulator » 6 Sep 2006 14:07

I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this but I've been practicing with some cheap deadbolt for about 3 days now. I currently only have 2 pins and for some reason, even though it is pinned correctly, when I try to open the lock with the right key, IT WONT OPEN! I only have one hook and find it rather hard to pick this lock with the pin configuration, but maybe the lock "sticking", is contributing to this...? :( Any help would be greatly appreciated... (I guess you truly get what you pay for...) :?

   ok I figured out what I did: it was correctly pinned, the key was correct, but it was pinned for the key to a different lock... hmmm shows how close cheaper locks are to each other.... lol

When you say you only have 2 pins do you mean youve stripped it down and removed the others?

If so make sure you have also removed the other top pins and springs,

The other and main thing which i think you must have done is to strip it down again and make sure you have put the right bottom pins in (key pins) to do this put the working key in and make sure the 2 pins you have in the plug are level with the edge of the plug, if not youve used the wrong pins or put them in the wrong holes,

lesson learned

no believe me, I learned very quickly with my other lock to make sure you have both the driver and key pins in the right place...(a few mangled springs later...)
