Mini-Mite into a code cutter?

Postby Schuyler » 7 Sep 2006 11:18

Is there any way to convert a mini-mite into a code machine? As I understand it the foley belsaw machine can be converted, but right now I'm looking at two affordable options. I'm just a hobbiest, so I don't need anything fantastic, but I would like the ability to cut to code.

Yes, you can use space and depth keys to cut to code on the mini mite. The problem is that you have to buy the sets of space and depth keys to do it but they are always available on ebay. If you only want to cut to code on a few different keyways then this is definately the way to go as it will save you a fortune over a code cutting machine.

Thanks!

(considering the prices offered...I may get both.)

If you are looking at the 027 mini mite then the price I see listed lately is about 259.00. I do see some discrepancies though as I also see an 008 listed as a mini mite. The 008 is a very small machine with a motor about the size of my fist and weighs about 9 pounds for the entire machine. I don't recommend the 008 personally.

I have never used the 027 myself but it appears to be a heavier duty machine so it is likely to be a better machine. To be honest instead of buying both, I would buy one nice duplicator such as the ilco 045 or 040 if you want an automatic. I have the 040 myself and it has been a great machine.
