can't think of the name of it at the moment, but i'm pretty sure it's a high security lock.

there are many knockoffs of it of course...

Ok, i remembered.. it's an Abus Diskus lock.

http://www.abuslock.com/abus/usa/menu/p ... dlocks.htm

as you can see, some have 6 pins, others have 5 mushroom pins, and various combinations in between.

like i said, high security padlock... tough one to pick.

I have two abus discus locks and a brinks knockoff. The toughest part of picking an abus discus is finding tools that will fit in the keyway and allow you to properly manipulate the pins. The brinks has 2 pins that feel like they are spools and is easy to pick if you know how to deal with spools. I bought another discus lock a while back, I think the manufacturer was Mountain Security, it was as easy as a laminated master so I took it back.

I found out Master Lock # 40 is also the same ...

Fully shielded design minimizes shackle exposure
Key retaining feature ensures padlock is not left unlocked
2 3/4" (70mm) wide stainless steel body resists corrosion
Hardened steel shackle for extra cut resistance
4-pin cylinder helps prevent picking
Double deadbolt locking to guard against pulling
Ideal protection against bolt cutter attacks

it says 4-pin to prevent picking.. should i be worried about spools ? have any of you guys picked this "Type/Model" before ?

I took a quick look at the master lock tech manual (free online, take a look) and couldnt determine anything relevant. I would suggest that there may be spool pins, but judging from the majority of master 4 pin locks I have encountered, I would venture that there aren't spool pins. Of course, the lock is intened as an Abus clone, so they may have put them in. This would be interesting, as Master generally has spools in 5 pin or 6 pin lokcs.

Someone with one, please help out.

i have picked those type locks before. but they are extreemly difficult due to the fact of the way the cylinder is made. its hard to get a pick in there... ill see if i can get a up clock picture... but they are pretty good locks. go with master if your gonna go with anything.

master to try to pick? for alot harder lock to pick, and a lot higher security lock, (more expensive too probably), would be best to go with the Abus Diskus.
