You unlock this lock with the pick of imagination. But then you discover there is no spring tension!
That's about how I feel, like I've entered the twilight zone of master locks!
I've got two master #5. One always picked easier (10 seconds), the other always took longer, 1 to 2 minutes SPP, or about 20-40 seconds raking.
The harder one always felt different, less spring tension, harder to feel the pins. Well I have not tried this one in a while and decided to just go thru some older locks.
Much to my surprise it no longer has any spring to the pins! As if there were no springs! Also most of the pins I can no longer judge any movement to as if there are no pins. I can not pick it or rake it now. I even tried bumping it with two different bump keys! The key still unlocks the lock.
Is this a case of poor workmanship? Have the springs finally gone bad, if so would the key still be able to work then? Have I stumbled on a way to defeat picking and bumping? What's going on? Has any one had any similar experiences with masters? I also have a couple of master #3's and one of them has pins that are harder to feel due to lack of spring and high key bite, but can still be picked and raked easily.
Would appreciate any insight in to this. Thx
