Have you ever taken a Mul-T-Lock Interactive apart yourself?

Information about locks themselves. Questions, tips and lock diagram information should be posted here.

Have you ever taken a Mul-T-Lock Interactive apart yourself?

Postby illusion » 14 Sep 2006 14:13

OK, now this thread has been a long time coming, and it's a question I really want answered.

No Poll, I want to know 1 thing:

Have you ever, with your own hands, taken apart a Mul-T-Lock Interactive lock?

This isn't advanced, and I only want a "Yes" or "No" answer.

I'll go first "Yes".

No, and untill I see it done on a step-by-step video, I'm not even going to try. :-)
I guess that the taking apart isn't a big deal... It's putting it together that can probably get your nose bleeding.

Ps. Yes - that part about the step-by-step video was a suggestion... I'll be waiting in the advanced sections 8)

It isn't compicated at all mate - it is *identical* to taking apart a classic model.

It goes together like any normal lock, although you have to be carfefull that the the inner pins of the bottom pins don't fall out... Not a hard task though.

There is far too much of a mystical veil surrounding MTL Interactive... Had some guy suggest it uses magnets a while back.

Nope,

Haven't even seen one yet. I believe I know some folks who have, though...

Yes I have had one taken apart and have had several different interactive cutaway versions.
For the best book out there on high security locks and their operation, take a look at amazon.com for High-Security Mechanical Locks An Encyclopedic Reference. Written by our very own site member Greyman! A true 5 Star read!!

Yes - sortof. I part-way dissassembled mine the first day I had it. I lost a spring (Not a pin spring though) and decided to stop and do this another day :). It still works, just not as smooth when the key is turned.

No, but one of the locksmiths has a MTL Padlock to secure his store, does that count for anything :?:

:D

Before you pick a lock:
The first thing that you should do is check to make sure that
the lock is your's and secondly make sure its not in use.

A long time coming, you mean you´ve prepared yourself over a longer period of time?

You better lay your picks down NOW, and tell us what you´re up to pal, or I´ll have to call Shrub, to make him lock this thing up, this is getting dirty, and very close to being against forum rules

:D

Not only have I taken apart Mul-t-Lock Interactives, I've made about 4 cutaways of them.
