Mester Keys

Postby Tyler Durden » 14 Sep 2006 4:38

I was asked the question the other day " Can you get me a new master key, one if my staff has lost it" I said, "I dont think so but i'l try and find out" Its for a load of properties all fitted with yale night latches. Is it possible to obtain a new master key, or will the whole new system need to be replaced? Thanks for any help.

Yes it's possible. Any locksmith can do it.

the only master key in circulation has been lost and you need a new copy of it? Or are you trying to regain control of the security of your system by making sure the lost master cannot be used by whoever finds it.

in the first case, a locksmith can do it fairly simply.
for the latter case, you'll need to have every lock rekeyed.

I know you were in the forum when I posted the last comment, I guess you're afraid of confrontation. Although cowardice is not commendable it is understandable, but you should practice it elsewhere.
