How can I remove this retainer clip?

Postby lockedin » 18 Sep 2006 19:46

I've been trying to remove this retainer clip from a First Watch cylinder for a while. It not like a Kwikset retainer clip that is flexible and comes off easily. I've already tried to push it off with my Kwikset re-keying tool to no avail. Any advice?

On that one simply force one end out with a small screw driver,

If it starts to spin, spin it around until one edge is over the opening in the keyway,

Insert a small screwdriver in there,

Rotate the clip back so its trapped against the screwdriver,

Push the other side off with another small screw driver,

Most times it wont spin and you can then get the screwdriver behind the clip and lever it out,

Thats a regular clip over here
