curtain pick wire

Postby bonez » 20 Sep 2006 14:52

picked an avocet today,

but had to break the (golden rule) i had to use extreme force on
the pick wire to finally nudge three levers into final position!

after taking the lock home and opening up and repicking i found
the wire to be about 2mm short for these all were set in true gates
but needed that bit extra to pop open!

has anyone else had simalar or is it just an odd lever pack?
or a badly made curtain?

cheers

Do you mean the wire was too short to lift the levers high enough or that you had to turn the wire further round the keyway than normal to set the levers?

You will get a funny pack in a lock that means you have to simply play a bit to get, you should check youve not previously bent your wire a bit,

Bonez

I have come across something similar on a number of different locks, where levers have to be pushed further than seems normal to meet the gate.

It may be due to manufacturers tolerances with all the levers in a particular pack being very close to being identical length causing the remaining levers to feel very tight.

Hey guys any chance of getting you to post some pics of the said locks. We have the usual set of Chubb's, Unions (yellow, Red's) and a bunch of Local makes here in OZ.

In a typical method I have my own curtian picks, FALLE Curtain and some misc other FALLE kit.
