Yes I HAD to bolt it down with the larger wheel in place. Even with the orig wheels in place I seen movement with the base.

Another question about wheels.

I find the finer grade grinding wheel to be much better for making picks then the more coarse one. I'm thinking of just getting another finer grade wheel and replace the coarse one. I haven't found a use where the coarse grinder comes in handy yet, it pulls the metals more and also vibrates the picks more too.

Any one use the coarse wheel for making picks?

Yes they do, but the don't actually touch each other when they are used.

my own grinder pics came out too dark
so i'm using a picture from canadian tire
of my canadian tire grinder
because i rent the top floor at an older couples house
i only do my grinding on thursdays
when they head off to their bowling league

I gonna guess that the two pieces somehow connects to the outside of the grinder, close to the wheel, and it acts either as a guard or a spacer.

Here's my grinder, with a spare wheel, a buffing wheel and compound.

Im worried at the amount of grinders im seeing with no guards fitted, its not very safe guys,

Putting bigger wheels on a unit than its designed for isnt safe either especially if the guards have to be removed,
